District Attorney, Michael S. Greek, was elected to office in 2020 and is the chief law enforcement officer of Carbon County.
Prosecuting criminal cases is the core function of the District Attorney's office. The office, in cooperation with local police agencies, investigates, files and prosecutes criminal charges. The District Attorney also coordinates and assists the Carbon County Drug Task Force. The District Attorney's office represents the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in all criminal court proceedings including preliminary hearings, pleas, sentencings, trials and appeals.
The District Attorney's office and the Victim Witness Coordinators, work to protect victims of crime in the implementation of Crime Victims Bill of Rights including providing notices of court proceedings, dispositions and releases, ensuring victims of crimes receive the respect and dignity they deserve as well as a voice in the system.
The office of the District Attorney is dedicated to promoting public safety and engaging in outreach efforts to address the underlying causes of crime. Our office is actively involved in local neighborhood, business and community groups to develop solutions to crime and promoting public safety initiatives.
