MEDIA ALERT - LANTA - Suspension of Lynx Service Effective March 26th, 2020transport

LANTA, under a contractual agreement with the County of TransportationCarbon, offers public transportation within Carbon and to several points outside of the county including the regional Mall area in Whitehall, Lehigh County. This service is sponsored by Carbon County in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's State Lottery Program, Rural Transportation Division, and the Federal Transit Administration.

What is CCCT?

Carbon County Community Transit (CCCT) offers public transportation in Carbon County and to several points outside of the County. Door-to-door and "fixed route" services are offered. Carbon County has retained the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA), based in Allentown, to manage the Carbon County Community Transit System. LANTA's sub-contractor, Easton Coach, with an office in Nesquehoning, oversees day-to-day operations.

Transportation Programs

Agencies sponsoring part or all of the costs of transportation for eligible customers are the:

  • "Shared-Ride Lottery Program for Seniors" managed by PennDOT
  • Carbon Area Agency on Aging
  • PA Department of Welfare, Medical Assistance Transportation Program
  • Transportation for People With Disabilities Program (18-64) (more information)

Door-To-Door Services

CCCT offers van services from 7 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday. Customers must call in advance to reserve a trip. Call-in hours are weekdays from 8 AM to 4 PM. For services needed the following day, customers must call by 2 PM the day before. The reservation number is (570-669-6380 or 1-800-990-4287).

AREA AGENCY ON AGING SPONSORED TRIPS – (CO-PAY)

  • Medical Appointment (Including PT with Doctors Script)
  • Senior Center
  • Once a week for food shopping from a Senior Center
  • Adult daycare
  • AAA contracted – legal services
  • Pharmacy (once a week)
  • Carbon County Aging office (Palmerton)

In County trips to the above Aging sponsored destinations will cost $.90 (3 tickets) ONE WAY for AGE 65+.

Out of County trips to the above Aging sponsored destinations will cost $1.50 (5 tickets) ONE WAY for AGE 65+.

Age 60-64 Co-Pay $2.70 (9 tickets) one way in County and $4.50 one way out of County.

Register by calling AAA (1-800-441-1315 or 610-824-7830) an application form needs to be completed and it takes about ten (10) business days from the time Lanta receives the application for the process.

The cost of a book of tickets is $18.00. There are 60 tickets in a book at 30 cents a ticket.

Buy a book of tickets from the driver, when the van driver picks you up, you will need the exact amount or write a check to CCCT/LANTA

HAZLETON – Transportation on Tuesday and Thursday

About Fares

The Door-To-Door fare zones are:

In County: Anywhere within Carbon County. Outside of Carbon County: The K-MART in Walnutport, Tamaqua, Hazelton, the Frackville Mall, LCCC, Allentown, Bethlehem.

Fares for door-to-door services depend upon whether or not a customer's trip is sponsored:

** General public fares are paid in cash. Please have exact change, as drivers are not required to carry change.
Books of tickets are available from drivers for $18.00 for 60 tickets. Tickets are also available by mail. Send a self-addressed stamped envelope (60 cents postage please) to:

Fixed Route, Carbon County Plaza Service

CCCT operates the LYNX, a "fixed-route" service, from Monday through Friday, between Nesquehoning and the Lehigh Valley Mall in the Allentown, Lehigh County area. Trips depart Nesquehoning for the Mall at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. The return trips from the Lehigh Valley Mall are at 11 a.m. 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Fares are $1.50 per one-way trip for those who board and alight within Carbon County, and $2.50 for those traveling from Carbon to the Malls in Lehigh County. Please have exact change as drivers are not required to carry change.

Seniors 65 or older, with proper ID (Medicare card or State Transit ID card) and who board at the designated stops, may ride the service free of charge except for between 7:00 & 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. If you do not have a Transit ID card call LANTA at 610-776-7433 and request an application.

For persons who are unable to get to the fixed pick-up points because of some physical or mental impairment, and who live within 3/4 miles of the bus stop, arrangements can be made in advance to provide door-to-door service.
